Position: Activity Director                                                            Department: Activities

Hours: 8 -4:30

Days: Full time, Monday- Friday (with special occasions as needed)

The Wayne County Care Center is currently accepting applications for the position of full time Activity Director for the County’s 50 bed skilled/ intermediate nursing and 20 bed assisted living facility.

Responsibilities of the Activity Director:

  • Plans, organizes and develops the overall operation of the Activity department
  • Provides an on-going program of activities to meet the interests of each resident
  • Ensures activities meet the physical, mental and psychosocial well- being of residents
  • Participates in formulating the plan of care for each resident
  • Ensure charting/ documentation is completed in a timely and complete manner
  • Communicate with all departments in order to provide quality service
  • Ensure that staff are mentored to provide constant, quality resident care 

Requirements of Activity Director require that ONE of the following criteria must be met:

  • Be a licenses occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; OR
  • Be a certified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional in the State of Ohio by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1 1990; OR
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a social or recreation program within the last five (5) years, one (1) of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; OR
  • Completed a 90-hour training course approved by the State of Ohio AND has one year of experience in recreational or activities services.
