Position: Activity Director

Hours: 8-4:30 weekdays with special occasions as needed

Location: Onsite at the Care Center

The Wayne County Care Center is looking for a dynamic, energetic individual who likes to have fun, and is committed to helping seniors, to lead our facility to the next level. We are the County’s 50 bed skilled/ intermediate nursing and 20 bed assisted living facility.

The Activity Director plans, organizes and develops the overall operation of the Activity Department to assure that an on-going program of activities is available to meet the interests and the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident. The Activity Director participates in formulating the plan of care for each resident, and ensures that the proper activities are presented to fit the plan.


Education and experience require that ONE of the following criteria must be met:

  1. Be a licensed occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; OR
  2. Be a certified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional in the State of Ohio by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1,1990; OR
  3. Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a social or recreation program within the last five (5) years, one (1) of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; OR
  4. Completed a 90-hour training course approved by the State of Ohio AND has one year of experience in recreational or activities services.


The Activity Director must be detail oriented, possess excellent interpersonal and time management skills, as well as be observant and caring. A positive, compassionate, enthusiastic attitude with genuine desire to help enrich the lives of residents are required for this position. Supervision experience is also preferred.
