Infection Preventionist
Position: RN or LPN- Infection Preventionist Department: Nursing
Hours: Full time (36 or 40 hours)
Days: RNs will be 40 hours, five 8-hour shifts, including weekend supervisor rotation. LPNs will be considered for that option, or the possibility of splitting the job into 2 programs, both of which would also work on the floor to maintain full time hours (skin- two 12s on floor and 2 8s skin or Inf Control- one 12 on the floor and three 8s IC)
The Wayne County Care Center is currently accepting applications for the position of full time Infection Preventionist for the County’s 50 bed skilled/ intermediate nursing facility.
Responsibilities of the Infection Preventionist:
- Plan, organize, develop, coordinate, monitor and direct the facility infection prevention and control program to ensure personnel follow activities in accordance with current regulations
- Report and track all documentation in accordance with current regulations
- Oversee annual education for residents and staff concerning immunizations and infectious diseases
- Initiate transmission based pre-caution for residents with communicable diseases
- Primary wound care nurse, in charge of treatment plans and documentation
- Assist nursing services personnel in performing nursing care procedures, including covering supervision, as necessary if an RN
- Follow care plans, do rounds with the Dr. and enter orders
- Communicate with other staff to ensure residents are provided with the best experience possible
- Ensure that staff are mentored to provide constant, quality resident care
- Must participate in facility inspections, as needed and perform administrative duties
Requirements of Infection Preventionist:
- Valid RN or LPN license
- Valid Infection Preventionist Certification, or the ability to complete the process in 30 days
- Minimum 1-year long term care experience
- Experience in Point Click Care preferred
- Compassion for and commitment to hospitality, service and excellence in senior care
- Ability to make decisions, plan organize, develop, implement and interpret policies
- Adaptable and able to work under pressure
